Radical substance-free phonology and feature learning

چکیده

Abstract This article argues that phonological features have no substantive properties, instead, segments are assigned by learning strategies set to the task of devising a computational system for phonology is consistent with requirements UG. I address two problems such substance-free model. The first Card-Grammar problem, which has been suggested argue universal features, on premise that, otherwise, language data cannot be stored in fashion necessary correct errors. Card Grammar problem disappears, suitably modular theory mind learned interfaces, where still can retain information not parsed particular grammar. second need demonstration, just an assertion, reasonable grammar and access phonetic substance yield coherent feature assignments. accomplished modeling Kerewe.

Phonological development: toward a ‘‘radical’’ templatic phonology*

‘‘Radical’’ templatic phonology is a template-based approach to segmental phonological representation. The central hypothesis is that the segmental phonological structure of words is represented as language-specific phonotactic templates, in the sense used in the developmental literature. Template-based organization of the early lexicon has been identified in children acquiring several di¤erent...

Compression, supramolecular organization and free radical polymerization of ethylene gas

At low pressure, ethylene gas consists of single translating and rotating molecules and behaves as an ideal gas. With decrease of free volume by compression, various rotating supramolecular particles are formed, which require less space for the movement: molecular pairs, bimolecules and oligomolecules. The appearance of a new kind of particles is manifested as a phase transition of the second o...
